West Laurel Ragtag Band

Bill Stevick, Director

For more info, contact Marge Stevick (301)725-9306

The West Laurel Ragtag Marching Band is dedicated to preserving community spirit and fun in music through public performance at the annual Laurel Main Street Festival as well a the annual Laurel 4th of July Parade. The band is comprised of musicians from 6th grade through Senior Citizens. To be eligible a person has to have played a marching band instrument for at least one year. There are two practices prior to each performance, not mandatory but highly recommended, especially for newcomers.

History: The band 1st marched in the Laurel 4th of July Parade in the year 1983. It has marched every year since then except for 1995. It has also marched in the Laurel Main Street Festival Parade every year except 1995 since 1987. The band seldom does extra performances, because most members are already in several bands, to include concert, rock, ska, and jazz bands.
